Nov 13th 2008 What is crashing down?

A torrential rain, an insane brain, a wall of pain, a dark stain?

The thought of these things is rather frightening, the pressure and the tightening.

The loss of control.

Desolation.  Destruction.  Death.

Yet I stand (I’m sitting, actually) in the light, the dark night dispelled.  I’ve peeled it all back.  All the realms of hell.  And what lies beyond?

A Golden Pond.

A Highway of Light.

A coming home, wherever you roam.

An authentic, mystical, vulnerable, strong self — yours and mine, found in the Self.

I don’t mean to preach but I do hope to reach you.  I am learning and discerning; a bridge is burning.  What is it between us?  It’s time to do some turning of pages, leaves, and phrases, and form a trail that blazes true, joining you to me and me to you.

Please find forgiveness.  I love you and I do care.  And yes, I have been careless.  I know I am blessed to have your love and support.

Look beyond the artifice into the heart of us.  It may be clever but I will not sever my bond with you.

Together we swim in the Golden Pond, dear one.

Heaven knows how we’ll get there from here
But those few words rang true, loud, and clear
So please receive from me, my dear
Una flor, un beso, y una invitacion a salir

En un futuro lejano, cuando dejemos de vivir
Y apenas se acuerde de nuestro existir
Que se repita y se cumpla lo que quisiste pedir
Una flor, un beso, y una invitacion a salir

Nov 2nd 2008 If we could sing

I don’t want to hit you right over the head,
I just want to tell you how I feel instead.
I don’t want to fight about it day after day,
I just want to live and love and laugh and play.

So won’t you sing with me?
Won’t you please sing?

We could stay together; we could go separate ways.
I know I will love you for the rest of my days.
But I would rather feel my love for you from afar,
Than all this pain and misery, we are who we are.

So won’t you sing with me?
Won’t you please sing?

Once upon a time there lived a girl and a boy
Their days were filled with fantasy, wonder, and joy.
Along the way they went astray and now do they roam.
The sound of our sweet love song will guide them home.

So won’t you sing with me?
Won’t you please sing?

We could do anything, we could be anything
If we could sing, if we could sing
If we could sing…

Oct 24th 2008 Bringing it on home

I roam alone through parts unknown
But in my heart lies a cornerstone
And day after day, the finer I hone
My compass of love for to make you moan,
“Come home, beloved, come home”

Baby, I’ve got trouble all over town
So please don’t take it too hard
If I don’t turn this thing around
I’ll be America’s Most Wanted bard

Do us a favor, listen to me
Forgive, let live, and set us both free
We’ll sing together like you know we should
“My cup runneth over and it feels so good”

Oct 10th 2008 Folly

Of folly, by golly, I’m guilty as can be
I hope you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me
I just can’t stand by and abandon another try
To reach out anew
To taste the nectar of me and you
And work this thing through
‘Til there’s harmony and stillness
And the illness upon us lets loose it’s grip
And drip drops down into the ground
Sewing seeds of a sacred sound
Magnificent mirth all around
Innocence lost now being found

Oct 5th 2008 Offline

Offline
Disconnected, isolated…estranged
And yet thoughts reverberate beyond
Beyond thought
There is ONE
One’s response
My response
My act upon the stage
Of consciousness
Whose consciousness??
Besides,
What good are your little fantasies?
Where are the signs, the marks…
Of your greatness?
Your great intention
Your great feeling
Your great love
Your great this and that?
Let me see them.
Let me feel them!
Be them!!
Be…
Simply
Free
Connected
Whole
United
Happy
Harmonious
Helpful
Hopeful
Honorable
Humorous
Healthy
Humble
Honest
Heartfelt

Oct 4th 2008 Ocean of Love

I’d like to sing a song for you
That comes out feeling soft and true
Sometimes I don’t know what to do
But I know how it feels
When it’s beautiful

If in these few words and lines
I find the rhythm and the rhyme,
I’ll tell you what I’m gonna do
I’m gonna give my love to you

And even though it may sound quaint
This love is an ocean
This love is an ocean
This love is an ocean

My gentle friend
I do contend
That in the end
Our hearts will mend
And our rivers blend
Into that great ocean

Ocean of love
Ocean of love
Ocean of love

Sep 30th 2008 interlude

Imagine the sound of a dog panting, haahahaahahaahahaaha.
And voices, mother and daughter.
The dryer door being shut.
Someone whistling.  A child, or an adolescent.
Conversation, downstairs.
Laughter.
Noises…getting louder.
Ah, it’s some sort of game,
The nature of which involves pattern and rhythm.
But the noise…
Subsides.
The conversation goes on.
Mother explaining, relating,
“Hay que ir…porque…no se pue…”
Daughter responding,
“Si, porque el banco cerro…”
Daughter’s son interjecting.
Voices fall silent.
The dryer.
Softness.
Voices.
Listening.
Breathing.
Typing.
Seeing.
Curser flashing.
“Hi Josh,” says daughter’s daughter.
“Hi.”

Sep 29th 2008 One a day

A poem a day keeps the rust at bay
On the things I feel but do not say
So here I go once again
Giving voice to what lies within

It’s more than just a clever rhyme
It’s making sense of my place in time
It’s leaving something of me behind
A window into one human’s mind

And though it might seem rather mad
From a distance it’s never all that bad
In fact there may be something true
That unites this poet with you-know-who

In any case, I’ve found my place
And it ain’t a-runnin’ the ol’ rat race
There may be better but there’s surely worse
Than passing time drafting verse

Sep 28th 2008 Instead

What if I were so well read
If you cut me it’d be ink I bled
And I could weave, thread by thread
Theories to let me mentally shred
Every last last bit of dread
I was ever sold or fed
And all the shit I’ve thought and said
Turned to fertilizer for my head
